British Columbia’s new Act received royal assent as of November 8, 2023
The old Emergency Program Act has now been replaced with the new “Emergency and Disaster Management Act”. The new act will have modernized information to include global pandemics, security risks and climate change with further emphasis on the four pillars of emergency management. Although, certain parts of the act is in effect now, there are other aspects of the Act that will take some time to be implemented.
